A new podcast is bringing research-backed reassurance to everyday parenting and mental health questions. You’re Doing it Right, hosted by CHRIM researcher Dr. Leslie Roos and clinical psychologist Dr. Lianne Tomfohr-Madsen, offers a thoughtful, evidence-informed take on the challenges families face—reminding listeners that perfection isn’t the goal. With warmth, expertise, and a relatable approach, the podcast explores how small, intentional choices can support well-being for both parents and children.
“Through 15 years of research and clinical work with more than 1,000 families, I’ve learned that one of the greatest challenges facing parents today isn’t a lack of information, it’s trying to make sense of too much of it,” says Dr. Roos. “In a digital world where anyone can present themselves as an expert, parents are left to sort through a mix of personal opinion, misinformation, and marketing. Many leave these spaces feeling like they are constantly getting it w;rong, when what I see are loving families trying their very best.”
You’re Doing it Right will feature experts from across Canada speaking about various topics important to today’s parent. These include screen time, anger, defiance, parenting stress, and what many families can learn from Indigenous teachings around connection and community. The first season is comprised of eight episodes dropping every Thursday. Find more information and links to episodes by visiting the You’re Doing It Right webpage here.
