Child Health Research Days

The Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba is proud to annually host the Child Health Research Days (CHRD) conference.

CHRD is an exciting and unique event focused on innovative child health research happening in Manitoba, Canada, and around the world. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from internationally acclaimed speakers on a range of pertinent topics; network and collaborate with fellow researchers; participate in workshops and discussion sessions; and learn about exciting advancements in the future of child health from our trainees.

CHRD provides a stimulating educational environment for both researchers and trainees, with opportunities for trainees to participate in poster sessions and the Dr. Goodbear’s Den oral competition.

From Cells to Society: Child Health Through Science, Culture, and Community

This year’s theme is From Cells to Society: Child Health Through Science, Culture, and Community and it will cover a spectrum of topics that affect child health and relating these to their impact throughout the human life cycle. We cover prenatal, infancy, early childhood, adolescence, and adulthood, examining biological, social, and cultural effectors. Below is an overview of what the two exciting days will include:

Wednesday, October 21

Child Health Research Days will take place in Alloway Hall at the Manitoba Museum from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The afternoon will feature student and trainee poster presentations from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. After a full day of presentations, join us for a networking mixer in the Non Such Gallery from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This is a great opportunity to connect with fellow attendees.

Thursday, October 22

We return to Alloway Hall to conclude the conference with the Dr. Goodbear’s Den trainee presentations. Following the conference sessions, attendees are invited to enjoy a private show at the Planetarium, followed by time to explore the Manitoba Museum’s Science Gallery. To close the conference, an awards dinner will be held on Thursday evening in Alloway Hall from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
