Participate in Research

Research is fundamental for creating a healthy future for all, but it isn’t just microscopes and molecules!

Right now, evidence for kids is limited and we need clinical research to expand the evidence for the best treatments for children.

Your participation in child health research will improve healthcare for children across the country.

We are currently recruiting youth and families to participate in the following studies.

BRIDGE Study

Are you a parent with a young child (3-7 years old) who is interested in helping us understand the benefits of online group therapy? We are currently recruiting participants for our control group as a healthy comparison to help understand how group therapy can improve mental health and well-being.

Participation involves:

  • Completing online questionnaires about parenting and mental health
  • Bringing your child to three in-person sessions (Fort Garry Campus) where they will complete play-based tasks related to reading and self-regulation
  • Contributing to research that helps us understand how to better support families through targeted online interventions

See the recruitment poster here to learn more or see eligibility screener here.

PGx-GAP Study

The PGx-GAP trial is a research project exploring whether genetic testing can help doctors choose the most effective antidepressant medications for teens. The trial is examining treatment remission rates between adolescents who receive genetic-guided prescribing compared to those receiving treatment guided by clinical practice guidelines.

At the start of the study, participants and their doctor receive a brief report that lists SSRI medication options and suggested doses. After 12 weeks, they receive a more detailed pharmacogenetic report based on the participant’s genetic test results, which may help guide future medication decisions.

Participants or their caregivers are compensated for their time to complete 3 short monthly surveys. Referring physicians are compensated for each enrolled participant.

Adolescents ages 12 – 17 years in Western Canada (MB, SK, AB, BC) who are starting or changing medication for depression and/or anxiety may be eligible. Find out more about our pharmacogenetic studies, contact us, or refer participants HERE!
