Dr. Jennifer Protudjer recently spoke with Radio-Canada’s Geneviève Potvin about food allergy management in schools. Some tips and facts from the interview:
- For families with food allergy, remember to speak clearly and regularly with your child’s teacher about their food allergies, how to prevent reactions, and how to treat reactions if they occur.
- For school staff, know that an estimated 6-8% of children in Canada have food allergy. Being prepared, learning about food allergy, and knowing immediately how to recognose and treat a reaction are all critical steps to help keeping children safe.
