We are thrilled to see many researchers from the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba were successful in the 2024 Discovery Research Program from NSERC.

Dr. Sabine Hombach-Klonisch: Novel functions of high mobility group A chromatinbinding factors ($34,000, 5 years)
Dr. Hassan Marzban: Early development of the cerebellar circuits ($48,000, 5 years)
Dr. Joel Pearson: Optimized CRISPR systems for improved functional genomic capabilities ($31,000, 5 years; $12,500, 1 year – supplement)
Dr. Mojgan Rastegar: Epigenetic control of brain development ($48,000, 5 years)
Dr. Miyoung Suh: Production of functional vegetables for northern communities by harnessing smart vertical farm technology ($19,500, 5 years)
Dr. Peter Thompson: Epigenetic regulation by the histone H3 lysine 9 methylation system in pancreatic islet cells ($39,000, 5 years; $12,500, 1 year – supplement)
Dr. James Young: In-home rapid and iterative development of social companion robots for wellness support ($41,000, 5 years)
