This week, the CHRIM community came together to celebrate a year full of accomplishments, challenges, and exciting research at our Annual General Meeting.
We are proud to share our Annual Report, where you will find details about scientific discoveries and special moments from 2025, as well as a statistical year in review.

Some Highlights from 2025
Elevating the Brand
Throughout 2025, many of our researchers were featured in news stories and online articles. Dr. Meghan Azad joined CBC Radio Winnipeg to discuss the many benefits of breastfeeding, while Dr. Barbara Porto shared her expertise on RSV. Drs. Andrew Halayko and Chris Pascoe were also frequently featured in the media throughout the summer, discussing wildfire smoke and its effects on health. We also made important political connections this past year. We were pleased to have the Honourable Mike Moyes, the provincial Minister of Environment and Climate Change, join us at CHRD to tour the poster session and gain insight into the important work being done at CHRIM.
Help Kids
We welcomed nine new members in 2025, who are studying a variety of child health topics, including family mental health, breastfeeding, perinatal mental health, and the safety and effectiveness of medications.
Nearly $500,000 was invested directly into CHRIM operating grants that will be used to support highly skilled CHRIM researchers in a variety of health areas that are seeking to improve outcomes for children in Manitoba and beyond.
Support Research
In 2025, we were thrilled to once again return to the Teddy Bears’ Picnic with the CHRIM “I Want to be a Scientist” tent. Hundreds of families came through the tent to learn about science in a fun-filled, hands-on environment. CHRIM trainees also participated in multiple school career fairs and community events to share what it’s like to be a trainee at CHRIM and highlight the positive impact CHRIM can have on students pursuing a career in the health sciences.
Increase Funding
Increased funding helps CHRIM scientists move forward with their research and discover new information about childhood conditions and diseases. CHRIM managed a total of $27,029,793 active research dollars. This is comprised of partner funding, salaries, infrastructure funding, and research grants from investigators.
We were proud to invest $63,000 into nine undergraduate summer studentship awards, and we also awarded 22 travel grants to trainees, totaling $16,500.
Looking back, 2025 was an exciting year of growth and success at CHRIM, with countless scientific triumphs and remarkable teamwork. We can’t wait to see what the next year holds!
