Dr. Cheryl Rockman-Greenberg, MD, CM, FRCPC, FCCMG

Dr. Cheryl Rockman-Greenberg completed her medical studies as well as postgraduate specialty training in Paediatrics and Medical & Biochemical Genetics at McGill University in Montréal. She subsequently moved to Winnipeg in 1978 where she is proud to have lived ever since. Throughout her professional career at the University of Manitoba in the Departments of Pediatrics & Child Health and Biochemistry & Medical Genetics and in the Program of Genetics and Metabolism, Shared Health, she has focussed on caring for patients and their families with hereditary metabolic disorders, focused on a “bedside to bench and back to bedside approach” to further clinical discovery and new ways to treat patients.

Dr. Beth Spriggs, PhD, FCCMG
Academic Co-Lead
Dr. Beth Spriggs has worked as a clinical molecular geneticist in Winnipeg since 1998 and is currently the Medical Director for Genomics, Diagnostic Services, Shared Health. Beth is also cross-appointed to the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences in the University of Manitoba as an Assistant Professor. She continues to be an active member of the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists and was recently awarded the John L. Hamerton Service Award. In her spare time, Beth enjoys traveling, reading, wine tasting, and spending time with her family.

Dr. Aziz Mhanni, MD, FRCPC, FCCMGG, FACMGG, PhD
Clinical Lead
Dr. Aziz Mhanni is a Clinician Scientist, and an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health and the Department of Biochemistry and Medical Genetics in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Manitoba, Canada. He is a practicing Consultant in Clinical Genetics and in Metabolic Disorders. Dr. Mhanni’s focus in clinical research has primarily been concerned with the advances in the treatment of different inborn errors of metabolism. His research interests also include understanding the role of epigenetics in human disorders.

Angela Krutish, MSc, MSc, CGC, CCGC
Project Manager
Angela (she/her) was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Genetics, an MSc in Biochemistry and Medical Genetics, and an MSc in Genetic Counselling from the University of Manitoba. Prior to her role with the CPMN/MGM team, Angela worked as a clinical genetic counsellor at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. Angela’s primary interest is improving access to genetics services; therefore, she is very excited to be a part of the MGM team! In her spare time, Angela enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with her family and dogs.

Rebekah Kukurudz-Gorowski, MSc
Research Genetic Counsellor
Rebekah (she/her) is a recent graduate from the MSc in Genetic Counselling Program here at the University of Manitoba. Her previous research experiences include both quantitative and qualitative methods, and she’s excited to begin her career as a Research Genetic Counsellor with the MGM team. In her free time, Rebekah enjoys playing rec soccer, reading, and hitting up the movie theatre and arcade with her husband.

Erika Bloomfield
Administrative Assistant
Erika has worked for the University of Manitoba for 19 years in a variety of capacities. She has extensive experience with coordinating an assortment of clinical research projects and providing a wide range of administrative support. Outside of work, Erika enjoys cheering on her children at the rink.
