The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) funds visionaries, explorers and innovators who are searching for the scientific and technical breakthroughs that will benefit our country. This is Canada’s largest supporter of discovery and innovation. Recently, NSERC announced a $660 million investment in discovery research and CHRIM is proud that our researchers have received over $545,700 of that amount.
The following researchers received funding for their projects:
Dr. Dake Qi: – Dopamine receptor 1 (DRD1) regulates macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) expression and release in adipocytes: A novel endocrine mechanism in white adipose tissue (WAT) ($39,000, 5 years)
Dr. Lei Xing: Advanced tissue culture and imaging platform for diverse research on plant, animal, and human organoid ($150,000, 1 year)
Dr. Samantha Pauls: Effects of fatty acids on gene expression and function in the immune system ($12,500, 1 year)
