Research Focus

My research is focused on how a class of molecules, called transcription factors, can control the cell identity and function of cells in the cardiovascular system. We are interested in particular in how transcription factors control the function/activation of endothelial cells (line blood and lymphatic vessels) and cardiac fibroblasts (support cells in the heart that are required for cardiac development and function). We are interested in how disruptions of these pathways may lead to congenital heart disease in humans.
