Research Focus

I am leading a research project that investigates the well-being of families affected by pediatric chronic kidney disease. In collaboration with colleagues at BC Children's Hospital and Westmead Children's Hospital, our team is undertaking a mixed methods investigation that examines risk factors as well as resilience and protective factors at the individual, family, peer, and community levels with data collection at 3 sites (Winnipeg, Vancouver, and Sydney). An important aspect of this work is that young people are afforded an opportunity to have a voice concerning their needs, struggles, and competencies.

Research Interests

Sibling relationships; trauma and resilience in young people and families facing adverse circumstances, child injury prevention; trauma-informed care
