Indigenous Languages and Cultures by Blooming Words® with CTNM
Join us to celebrate language development during Better Speech and Hearing Month in May 2026 through Breakfast at SSCY!
Through a partnership between Children’s Therapy Network of Manitoba (CTNM) and API‑Enfance, Blooming Words® is now available across Manitoba. We invite all community partners to join us for an interactive webinar, Indigenous Languages and Cultures on May 19, 2026, at 8-9:00am CST facilitated by Speech-Language Pathologist, Kally-Anna Clinton. This session will focus on sharing information and materials on multilingualism, highlighting the powerful role that Indigenous languages play in shaping children’s identity, belonging, and communication development. This section of the API-Enface Blooming Words® program was developed through a project created with and for Indigenous communities, ensuring the knowledge shared is rooted in Indigenous ways of knowing.
Learning Objectives:
- Continuing Education: related to Indigenous language development and multilingual environments (sequential and simultaneous bilingualism)
- Group Discussion: to foster learning and reconciliation – building environments that honor Indigenous identities, uphold cultural safety, and recognize the importance of language revitalization
- Access to Free Resources: culturally informed strategies for welcoming children as they transition to new environments as well as grids for screening language development
