Type 2 Diabetes Remission: The Quest

The DREAM Trainee Lectureship, organized by trainees within the DREAM theme at the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba, brings together leading diabetes researchers from around the world to share their exceptional scientific innovation, research excellence, and commitment to trainee mentorship with the University of Manitoba community. This year’s speaker, Dr. Hertzel Gerstein, will discuss emerging strategies and global research efforts to achieve and sustain type 2 diabetes remission.

Endocrinologist & Professor, McMaster University & Hamilton Health Sciences

Dr. Gerstein is a world-renowned diabetes researcher whose large-scale clinical trials have transformed diabetes care worldwide. His studies have involved over 90,000 participants, defining evidence-based approaches to diabetes prevention and treatment. He has received numerous honors, including the 2022 ADA Outstanding Achievement in Clinical Diabetes Research Award and the Canadian Diabetes Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
