Research Focus

Dr. Kindrachuk is an Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair in emerging and re-emerging viruses in the Departments of Medical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases and Internal Medicine, University of Manitoba. His research focuses on the circulation, transmission and pathogenesis of emerging zoonotic viruses that pose the greatest threat to global health. Findings from these investigations will help inform emerging virus therapeutic treatment strategies, outbreak prediction and preparedness efforts. He currently leads multiple national and international research investigations including Director of the International Mpox Response Consortium (IMREC), co-lead for Pillar 2 of CoVaRR-Net, and Principal Investigator for ongoing investigations on Ebola virus and monkeypox virus in sub-Saharan Africa.
