We are pleased to share that Zoé Nakata has assumed the role of board chair on the CHRIM board of directors. Zoé has been a CHRIM board member since 2023 and vice chair since 2024.
Zoé’s priorities and interests lie in connecting people with nature, land, and community while working alongside governments, donors, policymakers, and partner organizations to advance health, conservation, and social impact. Born and raised in rural Manitoba, she is proud of her Franco-Manitoban and Métis heritage. A graduate of the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science, she has built her career in non-profit leadership, with over 15 years of experience guiding organizations through growth, innovation, and community engagement.

Zoé has been Executive Director of the Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre since 2018. Under her leadership, the organization has transformed into central Canada’s largest wildlife rehabilitation facility, with a state-of-the-art veterinary hospital and expanded education programs that inspire thousands of Manitobans each year.
Zoé previously served for eight years as Chair of Shwachman Diamond Syndrome Canada, a national rare disease charity, where she championed research, family support, and international collaboration.
As the new Chair of the Board of the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba, Zoé is committed to supporting child health research that improves outcomes for children and families across Manitoba and beyond. A mother of two, she is passionate about inspiring others to come together to strengthen our communities, ensure the well-being of future generations, and create lasting positive change.
We thank outgoing board chair, Scott Lancaster, for his dedication and significant contributions to our organization’s success over the years. Scott has been an active member of the CHRIM board for many years and stepped in for a second term as board chair, ensuring the continued strength of CHRIM and the important research that happens here.
