Research Focus

My current research program is focused on nutrition interventions for obesity, type 2 diabetes, and chronic kidney disease. I have expertise in the appropriate design and implementation of clinical trials, and I am interested in trials involving interventions that are delivered via the healthcare system. I actively participate in knowledge synthesis activities as a content expert in human nutritional sciences and clinical trials. Across my research program I endeavor to involve people with lived experience and/or the public in the research process, to ensure the right outcomes are investigated and findings are translated appropriately. I am also very interested in how to combat misinformation related to nutrition and health, especially on the internet and social media.

Research Interests

- Reducing dietary acid with fruit and vegetables in people with metabolic acidosis and chronic kidney disease
- Investigating combinations of nutritional supplements for the prevention of rheumatoid arthritis
- Investigating the impact of polyphenols and fiber on blood pressure and blood glucose response
